The Shaping Of Time

Contributed by Man_On_High on Sunday, 8th May 2005 @ 08:16:17 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

In the shaping of time
we fall from life and lies
into the midnight sun.
Unbridled mirth,
memories of secrets and sublime reign
sent to hell in a burst
of sulphur and cloven myth.

The moon rose through Eden and (((shook)))
freezing waters no frost could harden.
Wisemen melt and die
in the wake of new garden gods
who weave a new evil
on a southern tree-
boiling the depths of plasmic seas.

Heaven's Hill, torn away in a frenzied lust
of sin and deprivation...
while the new gods stroll the way,
forked tounge on the fruit.
Speaking serpents now the central plane,
as their silhouettes burn against the crimson sky
in the shaping of time.

Good gracious!

This piece, if taken at face value, is not so dramatically dark as one might first assume.
However, looking within the lines, I see a layered metaphor of astronomic proportions.
The battle between good and evil is one that has been weathered throughout the ages.
Not just heaven and hell .. but between men, countries, even within ourselves. And that
battle, dearest Billy, is the one that jumps out and grips me in this write. That, I believe, is
where the darkness dwells the deepest.

I know this piece, [as I said] on a surface level could be seen as the war of God and
Satan and their respective hold on the masses. BUT, I also see in this most
magnanimous piece, a battle of will within one's own mind. The urge and drive to do
good .. to BE good, but deviating slightly along the way .. time has a way of making things
right and an intensely gifted poet once said to me .. "but a constant state of faith in
something right, will inevitably, consume it."
The fact that he was talking about
regret here is of no consequence .. I believe this faith will consume any and ALL
negativities that we might encounter.

You see what you have done? You see how incredible this talent of yours is? God, I absolutely
ADORE writes that stimulate my brain and send it scurrying off in search of meaning
and new wonders .. so yes ... it is YOU who is to blame for this incredible ramble. lol (sorry)

[I have moved Poe and Keats over on the bookshelf .. thereby making room for yours ..]

*shakes head*

I am still awed beyond recognition that you created this thought process in my head ..

excellent post, sweets. I am ever humbled.

love,

~Breezy
