Paradise a Tomb?

Contributed by dthwlkr on Sunday, 8th May 2005 @ 02:13:40 PM in AEST
Topic: Nostalgic

It was a long time ago when I was born
Untouched by the meaning of flower or thorn
They are right in saying that in this world my flame subsided
Affected by this world’s vileness I confess that some of my actions were misguided

But now I remember how it all had started
Before I left the womb and for this world I departed
They are wrong to say “there is darkness from whence I came”
For that is where I learnt it all the beauty of a rose, the depth of the sky though I knew not the name

In there I knew love not hate nor darkness or dismay
And I felt god within me whenever I heard my mother pray.
And all that the time while I was inside
True happiness was by my side
For I was still safe from the madness of the world outside
But soon I realized that my time had come and that forever I could not hide.
Before I could prepare it was time for me to go
I was afraid yet excited for I wondered what the world had to show
Thus I was born, amidst many cries, mine of fear but theirs of joy
And heard my first words, “oh what a lovely boy”

So I stand today after many a year
Having felt laughter, joy and fear
To remind you of the tomb from where we all came
Just think for a minute and you will realize all we are all the same

So think again before calling paradise a tomb
For life begins not here but in our mother’s womb
