If Only The Sun Would Rise

Contributed by juliette on Sunday, 8th May 2005 @ 01:09:15 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

No solace in the moon tonight-
I used to think the clouds so wise
It has grown so much colder here on my street,
Since the stars fell from my eyes.
The darkness that served as a cover of my soul
Stepped out on the task at hand
Oh if sleep was all that failed me
I could get off my knees and stand
And greet a new day like before
Ignore the devil at my door
Crawl to safety underneath my beloved skies
If only the sun would rise.

So tempted by the beckon of new things bright
An aging cycle out of my control
The beauty of all things in the right light
Can’t burn through this sorrow that I’ve known.
The darkness that served as a cover of my soul
Reappears as the most confusing nemesis
Another shadow of something I used to love
Left to remind me of this emptiness.
Oh if sleep was all that failed me
I could get off my knees and stand
And greet a new day like before
Ignore the devil at my door
Crawl to safety underneath my beloved skies
If only the sun would rise.

Wow, this is pretty impressive and powerful. I can relate to much of this. Great write. one part reminded me of a song from my favorite band - Covenant. - "I can go to many places
But there's no one there to meet
And the sky is a lonely place
Just me and the silent clouds."

Juliette
An amazing write. To me it reads of the depression following the loss of love.
The precious thing that grabs and holds our mind and heart.
If love leaves it tares one apart
The only thing left is memories
and dark
Very well expressed nice write.

I am most impressed.
Some beautiful imagery and figurative language... symbolical and significant!
A celestial write...

-Romanticist.
