For thirty years I’ve been taking down this wall
Thirty years of toil,
With my tools of patience and understanding
Patience has worn thin
And there’s little left of understanding
New tool are desperately needed
But the cost is too dear
There has been time’s when I’d almost made it
Then just as I thought I may be permitted
Just once to look over this wall
It groans and rumbles from the ground
Rising like a great fortress
To block me yet again from which I seek
I’m so tired
Lately I have started to realize
Maybe it’s not mine to dismantle
