The Hours

Topic: StoryPoetry

The hours tick by so quickly
My time is running low
I must now find a seat
Or I might just miss the show

The stage is set before me
The curtains open wide
Revealing a world I know too well
The world of you and I

The parade of characters endless
Yet each one another clown
Sent here to amuse me
As the world crumbles to the ground

The detail is so perfect
Is this a dream or real
My emotions taking over
And I don’t know what to feel

The sky I see before me
Is bleeding red tonight
A tear for everything that’s wrong
With this world and my life

Earth is falling to pieces
Everything I knew is gone
And as I watch reluctantly
I realize I don’t have long

They say nothing lasts forever
And I know this all too well
Soon enough I’ll be gone
But you can find me in hell

Now the stage is set for conclusion
The final Act I see
Ending everything I know
Everything including me

All seems lost in the world tonight
The ending never turned out right
And I’m left wondering
Why my world was cut by this knife

The curtains now begin to close
But nothings ever really done
For once intermissions over
The sky will rise a new sun

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
