a newspaper gown
blowing in the wind
a single sentence
blue ink,
fresh and smeared
covers the headlines.
just one sentence.
that nobody will ever read.
except one lonely man at the end of the street.
no smile, you will see.
no grin, to please.
picks up the paper gown,
puts it up to his face,
and a tear rolls down his cheek.
forget about the grocery list,
and the car that needs gas.
one sentence,
that takes off his mask.
one sentence that puts a smile to his face.
and motivation to his feet.
a lonely man,
who encountered happenstance.
so he has a smile,
how can this be.
one sentence,
that changed everything.
a newspaper gown
blowing in the wind
a single sentence
blue ink,
fresh and smeared
covers the headlines.
just one sentence.
that nobody will ever read
except one lonely man at the end of the street.
