I look up to the sky at night,
And you are all that’s in sight.
I lie in the grass and look at your face.
Your presence is in every place.
When I search the faces of others,
And they look back at me,
I see someone I have never known,
Someone I will never know.
I see what I do not want to see.
I see their face staring back at me
And I know that they are not the One I am looking for.
There is something special in the face of the One whom I seek.
It holds a certain intelligence and compassion that no other can possess.
I know that when I see the One,
And he sees me,
There will be a connection between us
That will be neither unmistakable nor undeniable.
I have looked for so long and have not found the One,
But I cannot give up hope,
Because the second I do,
I know that I will never find the One.
Hope is the only thing that keeps me going.
It sustains me as will the One when I find him.
Then I will no longer need hope for I will have the One,
My precious One, whom I will take care of for the rest of my life
As he will take care of me.
We will have eternity together and all of it will be more
Wondrous than the moment before.
At the end of our lives as we fade into nothingness
We will look back on all the things we have done together
And will begin to weep at the memory of the happiness.
And as we take our last breath together,
And embrace for the final time,
I take his hand into my own, our fingers entwined.
We welcome the death of our old bodies and embrace the coming
Of the new world in which we will go where we will never grow old
And have yet another eternity, a never ending eternity,
To share and make memories all over again.
