A leaf in flight does spiral down,
dressed in its brightest Autumn gown;
released from where it once had shown
the gifts that made it so well-known.
Its vivid beauty’s still intact
as it gracefully performs its final act.
There once had stood in majesty,
adorned in leaves, a mighty tree
with cool shade beneath for tired souls
whose weary feet sought distant goals.
Lush growth once hid a small her, or him,
who played upon each leaf bound limb.
A rainbow’s color greeted the eye
of artist, king, or passer-by.
The tree, once a prince of dignity,
was now naked, for the world to see;
and the leaves which made its majestic crown
became its cushion on the ground.
Back to the earth from whence they came
they become nature’s food, so that once again,
in the Spring, when life rises from the ground,
God’s full-dressed tree will again be found.
The lesson to learn … that through the eye
things of God may sleep … but never die!

This is a brilliant piece of work. Your imagery is outstanding. Not sure the music is appropriate for such a piece of work. I enjoyed Your explanation of natures seasons.

Oh John! What beautiful words! So right! - before God everything is alive. This is a most moving RESURRECTION theme. Thank you for composing and posting this glorious and inspiring poem! A wonderful song to the Greater Glory of God, before whom everythijg is alive. "He is not the Lord of the dead, but of the Living.
Be blessed for ringing it home with these incomparably moving and consoling words!
Balm for the soul.!

Very nice piece, John both natural and spiritual. It made me feel good to read it. Birth-death-renewel. Everything goes somewhere, the cycle playing out over and over again in a scheme too large to really comprehend. But I digress........ Thanks for posting this one,
