My True Friends

Every now and then I sit back and I think to myself...who are my real friends?
Who are the ones who are always with me, who will never leave me in the end?
Who will stick by me and guide me in the right direction and always offer me love and affection and protection?
What friends do I have that I can intrust in them my deepest and darkest secrets without them being exposed?
What friends can I honestly say have always been true to me, I mean not even one lie has been told?
Who can I call on to come and comfort me when mom's is tripping, and life gets hard
Who is there for me when I'm hurt and my shield is down, who will come and be my guard?
Out of all the people in my life who can I point out and say yes this one friend is right and I'm glad they are in my life to re-leave me of pain and strife?
What names can I produce from my long list of so many names?
Who can I say has always been consistent in the way they treat me, who can I say has always been the same?
Who lends a ear when I need to vent out my inner most feelings and not feel like I'm talking to much, or not feel humiliated and such?
Or feel like they are actually listening and not just trying to be a "friend" and console me and hold my hand.
Who?....I can honestly only name 2, let me tell you who
My paper and pen, them 2 are my friends who I can confine in.
Who I can share my feelings with without being scared
Who I can talk to and they always listen when nobody else cared
Each and every time I have a problem, the assure me everything will be fine
And I feel it each and every time I write a line.
Never do I have to fear them leaving me or backstabbing me like all those other "so called" friends
But my paper and pen, I know will always be there with until the end.
Yes I do have real true friends in my life who I feel comfortable with to share things that happen to me in my life...but my paper and pen understand me just right.
I can talk to them in the morning, noon, and night
There is no call restrictions, there is no limit in time, or no distance
I don't have to put up a wall with them, I don't have to get defensive.
Those are my friends, and I'll love them for life...
They've been there for me when the times got rough....
And they always know how to make things right.

That's a sad couple of friends. Could our lack of good, caring friends be our fault - maybe? Good poem though.
God bless |
