Romeo and Juliet

Contributed by DrowningInKarma on Wednesday, 4th May 2005 @ 06:29:39 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

It started with love
From Romeo to Rosaline
But soon that was to end
Wit ha party and a dine
Fair Juliet was there
Dancing through the night
Even while Romeo was dismayed
Blinded by tough loves light
They fell in love at eyes 1st sight
Not knowing each others names
As Romeo began to woo
Juliet was kissed with out a shame
With marriage just arranged
And only four to know
Mercutio was foolishly killed
Romeos mind soon to blow
Through out the troubled misunderstood time
Capulet was making harsh plans
For young daughter Juliet
To be married into royal hands
Even while Romeo had clue
The punishment for his crime
He still had Tybalt to be killed
Giving the prince the authority of time
Banished was he to Mantua
He awaited his breathtaking news
Only to learn in the end
He was destined to lose
While Romeo was waiting for time
Juliet too learned what it pays
To lie and always hide the truth
She was to marry Paris in 3 days
She had to ask the friar for help
For the nurse just turned her nose
He granted her a 42 hour potion
Which would make her unconscious and doze
“Your skin is pale, your lips are blue, and your blood just runs cold through and through. You appear to be dead, with no pulse to tell, it is east to say, you are in heaven and well.”
Now Balthasar departs
The news to Romeo to tell
Of how his young and fair Juliet
Is dead and now well
Found he in her tomb
Romeo sees his match
He kills again another life
Paris is the one to catch
Alone and lying
The mindless Juliet
Bringing Romeo to her
In his golden chariot
The poison he chooses to drink
Feeling its mighty wasting power
Romeo is only left dead
Within the saddening hour
Juliet soon to awake
To observe the horrifying scene
Of how lies and early deceit
Left her a lonely guilty teen
She notices the cold bladed dagger
Pending for her there
In the drama she takes her own life
Without Romeo’s life to spare
Suddenly now the family knows the truth
And see what hate to each other has done
Nothing but take lives away
And leave guilt remaining among

Great poem, DrowningInKarma!
I have a poem of the same name, maybe you could look at it?
Tell me what you think?
Again, I love your take on the famous play.
It's good to see that people/ poets out there are thinking.
Keep up the wonderful work!
