The Cry of Children
The day is done
And I have had fun
But now that night is here
So is my fear.
As it nears my time for bed,
Happiness leaves in the coming of dread.
You tuck me in for the night
And I try to tell you of my fright.
You tell me things will be alright,
But I ask: “Mommy, why do you not listen?
Do you not see the tears that glisten
On my face as I try to tell
Of the evil I cannot quell?”
I tell you to leave on the light
Since it is my only savior from this frightful plight.
Night after night I have entered thy room
Screaming and crying at my fear of the gloom.
You awake and send me away,
Telling me everything will be okay.
Brokenhearted and betrayed, I return to my prison
To watch the evil risen.
I pull the covers up over my face
And dare not move from this place.
Maybe if I don’t move then they will not see
And therefore leave me be.
I lay in stillness and listen to them moan.
I am completely alone.
The cries become louder.
My face turns white as powder.
The darkness increases.
Everything is falling to pieces.
The covers are torn away.
They tell me they want to play.
The essence of horror glares into my eyes
Marking me as their next prize.
Sharp, mangled teeth are revealed as their smiles become wider.
The ever clutching hands with fingers as long and thin as the legs of a spider
Steal me away from my cell
Down to the depths of Hell.
Now, dear Mother, dear Father, that I am gone;
You will know one thing and one thing only:
You heard but you did not listen.

I like the story bit of this one Seth, very chilling and well put to words...The ending seemed very fitting and added to the whole expirience of the write....Well Done Again
