Tears of the Sky

Contributed by FleurdeSang on Tuesday, 3rd May 2005 @ 02:27:12 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

Soft Florida rain descending,
Tears of the sky placed in my eyes,
Such a solemn feeling,
This incessant loneliness…

Wrapped in blankets of sorrow,
Suicide caressing the corners of my mind,
My heart cries for another way,
My mind tells me I’m being selfish,
The voice of Reason whispers lies,
And I am left in a sea of uncertainty…

Looming clouds, ebony faces warning me of the oncoming storm,
What awaits me tomorrow?

A blurry illusion sitting near a withered tree,
Sacrificed words melting on the page,
Smeared black ink,
Worthless litany…

A lonely shadow dying at the corner of Nowhere,
A wasted image, dusty and wretched,
Proclaiming it’s me…

Staring blankly at the black pavement beneath my feet,
Wandering what lies underneath,
Pondering how it would feel like to be confined,
Within a marble tomb…

Endless wars, battles against the enemy,
Me…
I don’t want to think these things,
Feel this way…
Where is my will to retaliate,
My strength to stare into the eyes of the deadly Temptress,
And say, You are not the way?
Where is my Hope?

Drowning in lamentations of the sky,
Suffocating on my guilt and ignorance,
Silently screaming, inwardly dying…
Yet, amongst the urging voices,
There is one that shouts above the rest…

Through all of the despair and sorrow,
Deep within me,
There is a flicker of light that helps me see…
An echoing melody,
Of this newfound voice,

“Hope is eternal!”

The clouds are parting,
The sky weeps no longer,
My eyes are dry…
As the sun reclaims her throne,
Radiant and beautiful,
Tears of joy replace the ones of anguish,
A quiet whisper in the wind, meant only for my ears,
A reference to remind me hope exists…

“There is always sunshine after rain…”

I love the way you personify the sun as "she" Stephy! A rare thing, but as giver of life, it makes more sense than a male image of the sun. As for the emotions - I'm speechless in the familiarity. I can do nothing 'cept praise such a work of art. *hugs* J.

I wish I could write down what is going on in
my mind at the moment as clear as you did
here. I thought this was good although it
struck rather close to home. I loved it all from
the stunning opening of "Soft Florida rain
descending," to the positive ending of “There is always sunshine after rain…”
Wow I'm gonna go read it again.
