Who are you and what are you doing in this house
This country
This crazy world
This heart
I claim to be mine?
What they tell me is never enough
And yet you say
You
Fill us to the brim
Washing over every spot whose presence we can't acknowledge
What I would like to do is
Grab at you and all your
Beams of light and grace
And bottle you up
Crystal clear
That I may hold you up to my naked eye
To scrutinize any time I desire
But then you would be so
Compacted
Incomplete
Insufficient to meet
All my needs
And your son
He was drunk with light
But could we really tell?
We never truly knew him well.
Did he die to make things simple?
Isn't everything simple enough in itself?
Why do we bother asking after you if we're absolutely sure you never existed
And why do we want more after we hold back?
The devil made me do it but you made him.
I only know this:
I may not love you nor be assured of anyone's love again
But I am grateful for these mirrors
Reflecting your patience.
With everyone.
