Behind Brown Eyes

Contributed by Chanti on Friday, 27th December 2002 @ 10:00:00 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

Once upon a time,
I smiled and needed no tears,
Everyday was sweetened,
When i could confront my fears,
But now, that time is over,
This cheerful bell has lost her tone,
Despite the many who i stand with,
In someway, i stand alone,
Now i am no longer invincible,
To all the things they say,
Now ive lost all hope in everything,
And barely hang on each day,
I have the brightest smile,
My laughter rings throughout the hall,
Yet, the tears in my eyes still goes existing,
Even through it all,
They think im always happy,
because of the grin set on my face,
But really deep inside,
I have no emotions for this place,
You never would have thought this,
And now you my friend, knows what lies,
in all my heart existance,
behind brown eyes.

i love the line about no matter how many you stand with you still feel alone. it is true, when you are depressed, depsite knowing that millions or people throughout the world are depressed as well, it doesnt help, you are still along, at least you feel alone. i hope you feel better soon and dont let the demon known as depression steal your life from you.

This is such a deep write, i can't even express the feelings this poem brought out in me, sometimes i think that the masks that people wear are so thick that they themselves can't even see or feel how they really are feeling about certain things deep inside, and that's sad...that is one of the saddest things to think that the walls built up within one's soul is so thick that not even that person can feel.....thank you for sharing this one i enjoyed reading it alot it brought out so many emotions within my own soul.....

Hey, Chanti I love your poems there all so well-written, deep, angry, and honest. This one was no different. I have felt like this or similar to this many times. The line, "Yet the tears in my eyes still goes existing," That line brought back a lot of memories for me. Keep on fighting and take comfort in the fact that u can express yourself if u need/want to. Keep yer chin up hun...

This poem brought tears to my eyes. This poem just took my breathe away because I feel everything your feeling inside. I truly feel so alone and unsure how I really feel inside. I wonder if its true or untrue. Confusion really crowds the mind heart, soul and body. This poem is very deeply expressed and beautifullly written. I think in life we all at one point wear mask so think we our selves can't see through. Lovely done.
