Thorns

Contributed by Blue on Friday, 27th December 2002 @ 08:00:00 AM in AEST
Topic: ChristianPoetry

i walk alone, an empty path,
beset with holes
the thorns have overgrown,
fixing themselves inside my feet
the blood marks every step i take
the demons line on every side
the jeering faces
the razor blade
the names that were called hang in the air
providing a cloud for my head to hang in
i see the knife in front of me
reaching for the blade i cry
no one loves me no one cares
i sink down upon a bed of thorns
materialized blade lies inside my hand
i only want to cut myself
they all hate me
they cheer me on
taunting, wanting, to see me die
i look up
cry out to whoever's there
my father why have you forsaken me?
and a gentle hand upon my head
under my chin lifts my head up
so that i can see a sky
so full of stars
and know that i am forever loved
i toss the knife to the side
and continue to walk
the thorns still pierce my feet
but i am comforted
and walk to a new beginning

This is deep. It is amazing how there are so many people who rely on God for everything in their daily lives, and it makes you think, even if your not religious, how can He help me, how can I let Him into my life.
