Beyond the Pale

Topic: DarkPoetry

Kill me slowly
Just stab me with a knife
One inch at a time
So that I can feel every cold slice
Of life that you are taking away

Oh so slowly
With a smile and a laugh
You watch me suffer
As you dig deeper and deeper into my
Skin and into my deepest darkest thoughts

Much too slowly
The pain becomes numbing
You’re halfway through
I can feel the sharp edge of the blade
Gouging into my heart

Yet still slowly
The tip protrudes through my stomach
I see the blood dripping
Each drip slower than the last
Each breath deeper than the last

So kill me slowly
My breath thickens with cold
The coppery taste of blood on my tongue
The wreak of death in the air
The knife now lay in my own two hands

Come death, slowly
So that the pain is beyond the pale
So that my tears stream in red
Leaving stains of blood on my cheeks
And none shall remember my death

Kill me slowly…

I wonder about the you in this tortured life poem. Regardless of who is cutting where and when, it seems to me that the hand(s ?) behind the knife (both physical and metaphorical) is/are the one(s) who are blaspheming against life itself. You should not have to be tortured like this! It is so horribly sad.
