What lies past those gentle hills
Away past the golden sky
Past the mountain passes
Where the eagles still fly
What lies in the lands to the north
Past the snow filled plain
Hidden in the sweet forest
Behind the fools bane
Where do the stars set at night
Where do they lie
Do they rest upon the mountains
Where the eagles fly
Will I ever see this scene
That we have yet to find
Or will I rest upon this land
That time has left behind

A very well conceived and composed piece of poetry. I like the arrangement as well as the implied tale that it brings. The longing for a distant land, a utopia of sorts from a soul who languishes in a setting that is stagnant and perhaps due to be left behind within a prison of the real world. I have similar longings and similar dreams of a place somewhere in the horizons where "the eagles still fly". The imageries used are also a splendid choice in my opinion. It flows well too. |
