Find Me

You can try to find yourself
in this game of hide and seek.
You can try to remember exactly where you hid yourself,
you were always the best at hiding,
and scream "I Found You!"
as you jump out in front of an empty closet.
Where's the fun in that?

You can try to find yourself by showing off.
Pretending to be the bigger person while
yelling your profanity at the top of your lungs
in an abandoned alley,
the howls of the dogs might join you.
You can try by smoking weed and drinking.
By having sex with the head cheerleader
or the school slut who wears too much eye makeup.
Either way,
you got some and your buddies didn't.

You can try to find yourself with rebellion.
Flipping strangers off,
or screaming "how much you want to die,
how much you cry,
and that your life,
has been a lie."

Drop the rhyme.

You can try with razors.
Using the dullest blade to litter you body with art.
And litter your soul with abuse.
You always liked needles better,
while you know all you really want is attention.

You can try to find yourself by wearing chains.
Piercing your eyebrows and nose and
painting your fingernails black.
You'll sing along to mudvayne or slipknot
while your little brother or sister
asks you to take their hand to cross the street.

You can try by being a jock/prep
with hundred dollar jackets and pants.
Try by throwing up your lunch in the bathroom
or "dieting" for three weeks until you look
like something people hang up for Halloween.
But if your not thin enough,
you'll never be homecoming queen, right?

Hide.

You can try to find yourself by ditching school.
By fighting with everyone who looks at you
and hitting your girlfriend or
telling your boyfriend he's nothing
because then you feel in control of your life.
You are what matters.

You can try by hating God.
Hating Him because he ruined your life.
He made your dad leave.
He made you start drugs.
He made you become the depressed ***** you are,
so you hate him, you hate him, you hate him.

and.

Maybe he hates you too.

You can try to find yourself with your voice.
By standing up for your beliefs.
"Women's Rights" and "The Rainforest".
You're one who took the time to write
a couple of words onto a posterboard and glue it to a stick.
Look up to me, I have done my part for the cause.
Worship me.
Send money.

You can try to find yourself by murder.
Blaming it on the voices that wouldn't stop talking,
on the demon that lives inside your soul.

You never wanted to hurt anyone.
(tears)
You didn't pull the trigger.
(whine)
You just wanted to find out who you were.
(plead)
Really.
(die)
You don't ever mean to.

You're always the one who has to

seek.

You're it.

Well wow this write says sooo many things in it i don't know where to begin commenting on it.....i can however say that i don't ever look at someone who does any of these things as though they are seeking attention, and even if they are then maybe that's all they need to smile for the day or to live life for that day....i will never disregard someone doing things such as this....as just seeking attention....and i for one will be the one who is there for them always....thanks for sharing this one it's made me think about alot of things...i truly beleive that people need to be more compassionate when it comes to people such as this....thank you ...
