It’s as simple as the look
That you may lie upon a loved one
And spit the words into their eyes
That will slowly sourly crush ‘em
Know this evil well
From the shadows of my soul it’s sparked
And it hangs as a picture
Adorning my undecorated heart
It’s as simple as the ‘no’
That you give a friend in need
And the kick you shove into someone’s ribs
As they agonize on the ground
And the world trusts man to save it
It’s as simple as the controversy
That it brings into someone’s heart
And makes hatred most believable
And tears pure love inside apart
It’s true as the eye of God that looks upon us
No Lord, your hand won’t stop it
It’s the way we kill each other
The way we hurt each other
I say to you
I’ve set the world on fire
With malice in my heart
And no one noticed
It’s as simple as the devil
That crushes all the loves
Defeating any chance
Of a light; inside anyone that walks
And me, I’m no superhero
But a spectator
Waiting for the day that I’ll be crushed
By the malice in the hearts of men
Because no one else seems to notice
