Hours and hours, months and months
is this first identity.
She’s calm, curious, mysterious, so gentle,
but young and unknowing of the world and its pain.
She stumbles with her walk,
feels safe with her blanket,
but safer hand in hand, she and her mother.
Her life seems so simple; she cries for her needs,
and her left and her right both seem just the same.
Minutes and minutes, years and years,
her second identity.
She’s quiet, respectful, cautious, so timid,
still young and unsure of the world’s misery.
She longs for her freedom
from her unchanging life,
but is happy with another, she and her best friend.
This vivid entrancement, her idea of life
is hypnotic; she feels that it’s her right to be alive.
Hours and hours, months and months
is her third identity
She’s loving, confused, emotional, so scared.
She can now understand the world and its pain,
feels free to go out,
prefers to do what she wants,
but more, eye to eye, she and her young lover.
Her life seems so hectic; she has no time alone,
and she needs time alone, no chaos.
Minutes and minutes, years and years
her fourth identity.
She’s fresh and serene, equitable, so loved.
She’s right out of college;
to her dream job, she runs,
but farther, arm in arm, she and her husband.
Her children will be born; they’ll learn to grow with life,
and they’ll receive a family’s undying love.
Hours and hours, months and months
is her fifth identity.
She’s graceful, stressed out, agreeable, so lucky.
Her crisis is well timed;
her time now is mid-life.
She’s close, soul to soul, she and her family.
Now her children have children; they’re growing so fast,
and their once bedrooms are now guestrooms.
Decades and decades, days and days
her sixth identity.
She’s patient, respected, kindhearted, so wise
and is older and all knowing of how cruel the world can be.
Death’s shadow is coming near her;
to her loved ones, it’s goodbye,
but hello, to the ground, she and her coffin.
Her funeral is just like the ones that she’s been to,
but memorable, as she was a saint to the world.
Forever, forever, eternity
her final destination; her seventh identity.
She’s perfect, content, glamorous, so sweet.
To heaven, where her soul has been taken,
she dances with the angels,
and rejoices, face to face, she and her Lord.
In eternity, forever will her spirit sing praise;
where her life is eternal; with the angels,
she stays.

Interesting poem about someone's life progressing.
Till the day they die.
It reminds me of a paper I wrote for my psychology class during my senior year of high school.
It was titled, 'Till The Day I Die.'
It was about my life and my life to be until my death.
Anyway, rosesarered736, this is a great poem!
Keep up the phenomenal work! |
