Never Meant To Be

Contributed by InexactExactness on Thursday, 26th December 2002 @ 11:40:00 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

This place was never meant for me
It was never meant to be mine
It was never supposed to be brought to me
It wasn't supposed to be mine
But here it is and I hate it
I hate what it's brought to me
I hate it with all of my heart
And I'll never change my mind
Solitude breathes my know-how
Alone I break inside
And I scream at this place for what it breathes
I scream at it like it has life
Dead to me I live
I need to be somewhere else
I want to leave where I grew up
There's nothing here for me now
Just blank space in my mind
Like when you close your eyes
I want to be somewhere bigger
I want to be something greater
It doesn't have much to offer
If you're a city boy in suburbia
If you want to grow up too fast
Or if you want to be someone you're not
Too hard are the times today
Of someone living a lie
A boy who wants to grow up too fast
Who just wants to be alive
This place isn't for him
It isn't for me
This place is my closet inside
There's nothing here ever
Just where I reside

You know this one captured me pretty deeply here because i have felt this way before, it's actually how i'm feeling now but im not living like at home with my mom, i have my own home but i feel like im smothering to death here, and what's even weirder is that i did for many years go straight to my closet and sit in the dark, that's where i sat and thought, cried, laughed, played, and told all my secrets in...and it was mine, all my own world that i created for me..and yet living there and being there was the same as you say here in your poem.....it was just where i resided...thank you my friend for writing such beautiful poetry your poems touch me every single time as you already know....
