A creature of the Night

Topic: DarkPoetry

What’s wrong with me?
One again I try to swallow this try stickiness
That has invaded my mouth and throat.
I feel weak.
My body rejects any food that I try to consume.
But this craving is never ending.
Always present.
Gnawing at the pit of my stomach.
My senses have raise to an inhuman level
The whispers in my mind repeat
“Feed, feed my child.”
I scarcely close my eyes
All I see is those eyes
Coaxing, pushing, convincing.
A deep understanding sets in.
I know what I must do
Into the night I go.
In search of the first.

Down a dark ally I watch him go,
I can hear his heart pumping,
The blood rushing through his veins,
Slithering through the shadows I follow.
He stops,
Turns to look behind him,
Shakes his head and proceeds down the dark ally.
The rush of his blood pounding in my ears,
The thirst intensifies 10 fold.
All rational thought escapes my mind
Pure instinct takes over.
A violent rage is released.

Time slows.

Silence, as I step from the shadows.
In an instant I am tearing at his throat,
Ripping, biting, licking.
His screams are muffled
By the gurgling of his blood,
That flows into my mouth.
I can feel his life force replenishing mine.
He goes limp in my arms, as I drain the last drop.
Dry to the bone,
He falls to the ground.
Wiping the blood from my mouth
I see myself just as I am
A creature of the night.
