My Butterfly

Contributed by Kiira on Friday, 29th April 2005 @ 09:03:47 AM in AEST
Topic: InspirationalPoems

My wings are weary, decrepit, and torn
My colors are faded, battered, and worn
I'm wilting away, I've been used and betrayed
My soul just can't take anymore

I just don't want to wake up tomorrow
Don't want to face another day
Tired of telling myself to keep trying, keep flying, and quit crying
Tired of harsh thoughtless words that people always say

But for a change I started to pray
And all of my nightmares went astray
The next morning when I awoke, it was a beautiful day

I wasn't weary so I flew

When I landed on a leaf I stared at my reflection in a dew drop
And realized something that almost made my heart stop

I am beautiful in every single way
My wings are full with not a rip or tear
My colors are bright, vibrant, and fair

I am beautiful no matter what other say
Because the Lord made me that way

So I flew up into the air knowing that with the Lord behind me
There is nothing that I can't bear

That was very, very nice. It started off sad and hurt, but then it just blossomed into one of the best writes i've read in awhile. How inspirational, thanks for sharing and keep it up!

This is a nice poem. I like the message that you are beautiful, in spite of what other people say. A little awkward to read, as the rhyme scheme changes frequently, but a good write over all.
