One Day I'll Tell You

One day i'll see you somewhere that i knew you'd be
you'll ask what i'm doing here and i'll stutter out an "i don't know"
and you'll look me in the eyes and tell me that you don't think so
i'll smile a little awkwardly as my gaze on you descends
and i'll whisper out a little thought that often enters my head
and although you will not hear it, because it's muttered and it's lost
I will have said i love you and i'm glad our paths have crossed

I will turn away just then, confirming all my fears
but slowly you catch up to me and what's left of my dignity disappears
I'm afraid of what you're about to say and although it may not be bad
All the words I have just whispered I will wish and pray I have not had
For in the moment now, you hold all my pain and bliss
and although you'd never know it, I long for just one kiss
