Is Love This Way Walking?

Contributed by puppy_dog_eyes on Thursday, 28th April 2005 @ 01:28:10 PM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

Is love this way walking ?
A journey shaped by soft and nervous steps
Like a child learning , so carefully she treads
Unsure of the path beneath her feet

Did she stumble on this road before ?
Crash to her knees, smitten by a storm
Cold winds blew on the love she trusted
Ravaged the union, tore it apart

The heart demands but the mind restrains
One is the bird, the other the earth
A flight of belief, of wishes and dreaming
Snares in the branches, roots it to the ground

The new way ahead is dark and untrodden
No markers to follow and no-one to guide
Succumb to the realm of familiar and safe
Or strike out more boldly, run deep into night?

Now is the time to be free of old wounds
Pour love into the veins, replenish the heart
Let the prison bars before you, fashioned from the fear
Transform to a curtain, a tissue of belief

Banish the old world, too long its memory lingers
Let today be resurrection, the spirit reborn
You are the butterfly, the winter has passed
Summers morn awaits, spread your wings and fly

I certainly hope love i walking her way. We cannot change anything in the past, but we can make sure the future is brighter. We have to let go of the pain and open up to the happiness that is hopefully ahead.

This is a lovely work for a friend.

You conjure great images in these words. Love walking toward you as you leave old heartbreak behind. I like the last line..."Summers morn awaits...spread your wings and fly" Something we must all learn to do. Great write! :-) joni
