Why DO We Repeat Our Mistakes?

Why do WE repeat the same mistakes?
I learned my lesson, BUT I repeat it again,
Damn me, WHY can’t I learn not to be hurt again,
I let myself loose and REPEAT the same mistakes,
Who said WE learn our lesson?
Because we keep doing IT over and over again,
It’s true we regret the past, BUT we never stop repeating it,
Why ME though? Why can’t I learn not to be hurt?
I thought I learned MY lesson the first time,
YES I did. I thought I would never repeat it again,
But I repeated the same mistake again, WHY?
Someone PLEASE tell me, WHY do we repeat it?
We hurt and cry but we END up doing it again,
I thought I learned MY lesson, no I did not.
