This Long Goodbye

Contributed by thepizzaguy on Monday, 25th April 2005 @ 08:53:25 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

I stand here, gazing into your soft sky blue eyes.
In those eyes I see happy and sad times,
laughter and smiles.
I thought for months,
about what I'd say in your yearbook.
And I came up with this.

You've changed me, forever.
You've changed me for the better.
And as I look through my tears into your eyes.
I never imagined this kind of goodbye.
As tears fall from my face, here I stand.
To tell you this one thing.
That when it comes to saying goodbye to you...
...I just can't.

So many times I've tried this goodbye,
And still only three words come to mind.
I know we're only friends,
And that's all we'll ever be.
But I've been keeping this too long.
I just...

You're eyes...

You're smile...

*Sigh*

I love you...

What can you say? The only thing that mattered.
Anyone who doesn't feel an echo in their hearts hasn't really put their hearts out there. I think the relationship-after-the-breakup feels fresh here, and again you are very sincere in your writings.
Some reason, I have this image of an abandoned puppy who was kicked out of his house, but still sits on the curb across the street, watching the doorway of his former domain. Poor puppy, pizzaman, you are a poor pup.
