IT FEELS LIKE LOVE TODAY

Contributed by jyssvw on Saturday, 23rd April 2005 @ 11:00:09 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

It feels like love today
As if you’d returned
High above the sky today
A bird chirped its song
In the mountains far away
A dove seemed overly concerned
As if peace itself, suddenly
Simply was reborn

The trees stood taller
Than they had ever before
The snow grew colder
Dissipating from the fertile shore
It smells like love today
Yet I can’t be so sure
Thought I dreamt my heart away
A thousand times before

Feels like rain tomorrow
Think ill stay inside
It won’t be the same tomorrow
You won’t be by my side
The sun has left and gone
Now only the night remains
Listen to the words of my song
Tell me what they contain

Keep silent for this brief moment
I need to sleep and think
There is no point in atonement
You’ll be gone by my next blink
Nailed curtains to the wall
The day beats fast and hard
The tired beasts of the cities
Awake in high regard

It felt like love last night
It smelt of fear and lies
It feels like the sky above
Laid its head down to die

Very deep and well expressed emotions...I like how it started off hopeful and positive, and then mid way through reality starts to creep in, and things get all dark and ugly...Very nice piece, and very effective ending.
