My Brother

Contributed by blue_angel on Saturday, 23rd April 2005 @ 10:04:14 PM in AEST
Topic: secrets

With physical force you strike me again
So afraid this time will be the end
Bruises and scars are left on my skin
All because I could not stand up to him
My brother is he, but kind he is not
Too many to count are the fights we have fought
So hypocritical are the words you speak
As another black tear brings color to my cheek
My mouth numb from the insults you direct
But from you there is no way to protect
So weak am I and you take full force
Told I am frail from a reliable source
Abusive in both physical and emotion
Yet no one arouses from the commotion
They let you kill me slowly each day
I cannot tell you, I know not what to say
I try to defend myself but I’m so scared
I turn my back only to find you there
Waiting to strike again with your fist
I want to run away but you insist
My brother, my flesh, why do you cause me pain?
With words deep, from your fist must you refrain
From my lip trails a drip of blood
From my eyes fall the tears flowing like flood
From your punch and your mouth I cannot hide
And all this abuse I must keep inside

Black and--Blue-Angel
Call the police each time this happens. This is sad.If your parents cannot control the situation you must try.Make police reports each time this happens. You don't deserve to be beat-and-your sibling needs help.
He must have a mental problem this isn't right.
Strong poem
Sinned

WHAT A LOSER!!!!! Sorry, had to yell it. It sucks big time that your older sibling does that and gets away with it. There is enough blame to share with your parents on this (yes, I know they are no help). Sinned is right, yet... you will not endear yourself to anyone in your family if you do that. People are like that, it's okay to quietly take a beating but it's wrong to make noise about it. I'm not saying do nothing or disagree with Sinned, but there will most likely be negative short-term consequences and it is in the short-term that we suffer. You probably know that better than most.

About your poem. Well I say it all the time, but it was another well crafted open door into the depths of your soul. The rhythm of the poem is so perfect. It flows like water through a funnel or broken glass. Keep writing and surving; we are here for you.

One thing I forgot to mention. Are there any options for you for custodial changes? Is there anyone, anywhere who can take you and get you out of your hellhole (assuming you want to go)? Just curious and concerned.

Something I want to add: (although keep in mind I am not a lawyer, just a concerned individual):

1) A child of 14 or older is usually granted more consideration (varies from state to state) in deciding custodial guardians than younger children. I'm not a lawyer, but those in a bad situation could consider contacting a person who could represent themself and the child in litigation against incompetent parents.
2) In New York state, like everywhere else, child abuse is a crime and you can start here:
http://www.ocfs.state.ny.us/main/cps/ or 1-800-342-3720.
Social workers and school personnel can make strong cases on your behalf. I encourage it if you feel trapped in a bad situation.
3) The following URL:
http://www.safehorizon.org/page.php?nav=nb&page=addressingabuse
addresses the many issues surrounding child abuse and what you can do to seek shelter, protect your rights and assist in legal issues. No one should have to suffer.
