Transformation

Contributed by EndEformEtrancE on Wednesday, 25th December 2002 @ 12:20:00 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

Somewhere along the road
A stone was dropped and left for worthless
Discarded and forgotten
Useless and inferior

I'd carried it for years, a burden bearing down on me,
Perched between my shoulderblades, crushing fragile vertebrae

But somewhere along the road
I managed to let go of it
Dropped it on the sopping asphalt
Blanked it from my conciousness

Erased it from my memory
Left it all behind
Felt the changes come over me
Felt the pain alleviate

I'd carried it for years, digging into chalky ribs
Weighing down my wings, binding me and harnessing

But somewhere along the road
Somewhere along, i elavated
Watched it come undone
Saw the bullets crippling

Witnessed my own birth again
As my body lifted upwards
And dropped the stone beneath my feet
Saw it plummet down
and down
and down
and down

But aeons later,
Suffering has reached a higher order
Angels are diseased and dying,
Tangible again and rotting

So now i have returned,
Sick of consequential justice
Back unto this space
My Birth and final resting place

I've opened up my mind,
Pandora's box, a pit of serpents
Unleasing within
A crowd of demons hungry and knife-toothed

And now i'm closing it again, sealing with a vomit solvent
Never to be opened, for fear of earth's contamination

Somewhere along the road
A stone was dropped and left for worthless
in this very spot
Where i stand alone today

Everything has changed
But it isn't it amusing how the years have worked apon the stone

Pressurising
Mutating
Changing and re-creating
Purifying everything
Weathering and corroding
Changes deep within the stone
And now i see it glistening,
My burden which i dropped so heavily
in this
very
spot

Now this stone is pure and neat,
Of value and is beautiful
I'll gladly carry it again
this jewel
for the rest of my gentle journey

But this time in my hand
So that i might feel it's surface
cool and smooth
against my new skin.
