They said you were strong, but i've never seen you lift a finger,
They said you were wise, but you've given me no guidance,
They said you were kind, but you let your children kill each other daily,
They said you were loving, but i've never felt your embrace,
They said you could do anything, but all you do is nothing.
A good parent is strong, at least in their child's eyes,
A good parent is wise, wise enough to try and direct,
A good parent is kind, kind enough to keep their children from killing each other,
A good parent is loving, they'll let you know that they care,
A good parent can't do everything, but at least they try.
Now i ask myself these questions,
Questions i've pondered for years.
Was i fed lies of your existince?
Or was i fed lies of your virtues?
Are you even there?
Or are you just a dead beat dad?

this need not be so repetative in format. words lose meaning when overused. you have very good points, and ive thought them many times also. one question is...is he letting his children grow up on their own to make their own mistakes and learn from them? i just thought of that anyway, but i dont really believe that god has a hands on role in anything. |

Interesting poem. It is more like deadbeat children. We were given free will at birth and then given the rules to live by. He gave us all we need, life, breathe, parent to guide us, teachers to teach us, and free will to do what we will with what we were given. A parent cannot be expected to give more. He gave love because you are alive. Questions viable, but you already have the answers in the rules he gave you.
