Forever Vacant

Contributed by lisa99460 on Friday, 22nd April 2005 @ 12:03:50 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

A plague inhabits my body.
It coincides with my organs, flows with my blood,
anticipates with my mind and moves with my joints.
The poor thing, he’s always unsatisfied, but
I think he’s just sick of being so jaded.

My plague is named desperation.
He is crashing in my feet tonight
He goes where I go, he’s quite sick and tired
of walking in circles now. It’s time for a change.
He will advance upwards before you know it.

Desperation is now a virus that inhabits my waist.
He bends, he sits, he turns, he twists.
He is squished in denim and now he is quite sick
of be compressed in these tight quarters. He will move,
and he will soon be in a better place.

Desperation is now encompassing my stomach.
He settles down next to my esophagus and
he stays about a week or two. He quickly becomes sick
of the acid deteriorating his delicate figure.
It’s time to move, maybe to a more fragile place.

This tiny antibody finds his way to my heart,
If he resides here, he’ll sure come from a broken home.
Carefree, Desperation is content in my heart.
He enjoys the strenuous chamber and the space it provides,
though my feet, hips and stomach remain void.

Strangely, desperation still resides in my heart.
He is lingering on a few weak arteries that remain.
Sometimes he can’t figure how out how and why
His home is so cluttered, yet the sign still reads “vacant.”
