Arrogance of the Black Man

he unabashedly flirts with fate
and should he not?
who would dare to take
this winsome, black haired
man from the world?
because he is all to heady
with the thought of himself
to allow us the idea
of permanent departure
because words tumble from
those more-than-just-lips
with an attractive ease
that sends my heart and mind
to fetch the paper
while my body melts
with the thought of him
it is my arrogance of him
that makes him so appealing
and the idea of those brown hands
with the lighter palms and almost peach at the fingertips…
he is beauty for the artists sake
with eyes beyond black
and nose and sensual lips
that were God's gift to those from that bloodline
and even his speech is poetry
with a dialect that I try to catch and reel in
and a soul that boils just below the skin
I stop to contemplate him
and should I not?

he is all *too* heady
but besides that, good. Haven't I read that one before? |
