The seventh day was blessed
It approached us unabated
The next day you left
Memories of you have slowly faded
You’ve read these words before
In the still nights and rain
Perched, drunk on the kitchen floor
Crying all over again
I can soothe your inner peace
If you let me in the door
I can grant you your release
If you just sign this accord
Promise me, never again
Admit your guilt
Promise me, you’re in pain
A promise I have fulfilled
You are not alone
You have your demons
Loneliness is relative
You have your reasons
I suppose you care not
You oppose all
I suppose you just simply forgot
To stand proud and tall
The eighth day has left me whole
Sane again, and full of rage
I cherish the day that you left
For that was the day I was truly blessed
