My hair falls in front of my face
I open my stride to quicken the pace
Not sure of what im running from
But one with the race have I become
Tears smear across my cheek
I see the line but I grow weak
Rounding the end I go all out
No spare room to house this doubt
One hundred meters from the finish line
Final sprint, the race is mine
Just one step short from winning it all
I trip on my pain and down I do fall
I see the race go to someone else
Everyone passes me, they don’t stop to help
Left only inches from the end
I can’t get up, my legs won’t bend
I watch as they leave, the stands clear
No one even notices me left here
Broken and helpless I’m left alone
Left to finish the race on my own

I don't think any of us can win the race on our own. But to tell the truth, it's not a race at all, and it doesn't matter much how long you take, or how much you stumble, as long as you try to follow the path. I hope some remember that enough to help others up when they need it.
Good expression. May your road be in the Light.

Excellent symbolism contrasting the runner to the person living life. I'm sure that the people in the stands were cheering you the runner in the homestretch with that lead... and that's the way it is with people. Like they say, you fell off the radarscreen. People have such short memories and shorter attention spans. I think they passed you not maliciously but just uncaring, as they had more important things to do, like go out for a smoothie or something (that's saracasm, by the way). See you can see in a world dominated by blindness... |
