his words

Contributed by Cancer on Sunday, 17th April 2005 @ 11:14:50 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

he sat in his wheelchair
as he always did
(he always seemed
to be waiting for me
though i never told him when i'd come)
he beckoned me in
with a benign smile
a smile that betrayed him
nothing about him was benign

and as he began to speak
he wore the same amused smile
that he always wore when speaking
a smile that said
that he knew everything that i didn't
and my hunger for that knowledge
amused him

(that's all i really was
his amusement)

"they will come
and they will take everything they can
from you
they will steal your money
your possessions
your friends
some would even steal your life

some will take far more personal things
they will steal your appearance
your essence
they will take away pieces of everything you are
they will copy you
and become you
and eventually eclipse you

and you must let them

let them have all they can take
and when they grow weary of taking
give yourself to them
force everything inside of you onto them
make them take it all

and when there is Nothing left inside
you will find the blessing of their greed
for, beneath everything you think you need
are the gifts you never knew you wanted

once they take it all
and push you to and beyond the edge
you will unearth Yourself
you will unleash all that you fight to hide
all that you hide even from yourself
you will fill the hollow with your core
and you will be free

within you lies a treasure
and it lies beyond your breaking point
and until you uncover this gift
you are not alive

every step every breath
every empty second
before your Awakening
is a waste
a vacuum of your existence

embrace their greed
become the hollow
find your breaking point
and shatter it's boundaries
then no knowledge will be beyond you
for you will be the..."

he stopped and smiled
and pointed to the door
signaling that my time was up
and that the rest of the answer
was left up to me

and as i looked back
before the door closed
his eyes closed slowly
and his head fell back
his breathing seemed to stop
but in my head
i could still here the laughter
that lay behind his smile

You are a wise man Roy the system takes
everything and when they finally ***** you over
no one will be there to help even though they
pushed you down that path. Thanks for
sharing this Roy and I mean this with utmost
sincerity that your wisdom is refreshing.

Those old fogies - one minute their jabbering one, can't shut them up, spilling the beans on the essence of existence and the One True Reality. The next they're dead, or comatose, or off to watch Matlock, I don't know. Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah, Carlos Castaneda in a wheelchair!

Jokes aside, I dig it. I've read it a few times, and its a terrific write.
