  Social

Shoots and Ladders

I'm sick of climbing social ladders
Just as I get to the top I have to start again

I fall down. Down, down, down and become a newborn in a strange world
No matter how hard I try I always end up where I have already been.
And I can’t get out of this repetitive rut.
I climb and fall. Climb and fall.
I'm tired of it all and I want to be on top, I don't want to be last.
I'm tired of the fall
I want to be known,
I'm tired of it all
Waiting for the promotion, someone comes and my accomplishments are in the past
I try so hard, so get back up.
I'm nearly there
I'm on the top
Then here comes this jerk off
I'm just another nobody
People continue to tell me that life isn't fair when I mention this. Why don't they try to change the ladder?
I don’t see why people can’t help each other and stop letting others get battered

The last of a dying race,
I see what other’s ignore
One person can’t change the world,
But I sure as hell can try
It seems like everyone is against me though. People always saying one person can't change anything. It's yet another thing to climb.
I’m fighting for the right to exist,
The right to be acknowledged
I am here! See me now!
If I could just convert a few people, and if they would convert a few people then maybe it wouldn't be such a bind.
It seems like no one is accepting
Can it be that we’re all in the same rut?
Reaching for a top
That we’ll always be beaten too
Or always fall from
We’re always falling
And always dreaming
I keep reaching for the unreachable and everyone criticizes, while doing the same. If its so wrong why aren't we all content with our lives?
Maybe I’m just ahead of my time
An elder soul who’s seen it all
A knowledgeable one who knows right from wrong
But no one understands that and they never will because they are tied down to the ladder beliefs.
A social wrong
A social acceptance
Needs to be a social change
But society changes so slowly and takes more effort than anyone wants to put into it.
But I won’t give up
I want this to change
The world needs to better itself
One person at a time
And even if this ends with me
You’ll all remember
The choice I made
To end the circular social ladder

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
