How can you?

Contributed by Kellros on Friday, 15th April 2005 @ 04:34:22 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

As tears stroll down these cheeks
and my life story unfolds,
I wish to remind you of that day
when you asked:
'Did you think we would be together forever?',
when I replied, 'no',
I lied...

It's something that has eaten at me,
these last six months,
not a pain a knife could soothe
or even suicide or rain,
I regret, what I regret was not lying,
in fact I don't regret anything at all.

It was time to let you go,
I helped you as much I could,
now ask me:
How can you forget someone you loved?
You can't.
How much are you willing to endure...
then I will ask you:
How do you let someone go..
You can't, but i had too, to see you happy again
even if it killed me inside,
even if I couldn't breathe when you were reffered to
and every thought strangled me inside

I want to say sorry that I lied... that once...
I want to say I still love you and will forever do,
but I had to let you go, and atlast you know
what it was all about...

A very touching piece. I like the honesty about it. I hope things go well with you both. God bless.

I liked this poem alot...it's full of sadness and truth. Though you love someone, you have to let them go, and because you love them so much is why you let them go...
Good write
