Favorite Obsession

I will never leave you.
I love you;
And – your life is my favorite obsession.

I have yelled at you, told you to get out!
But you won’t leave!
You have become part of every muscle and tissue,
Intent upon controlling my life through your incessant sickness.

I am constantly here,
I cause the imperfections on your soft skin –
I own them.
They are filled with my toxin –
My love for you
Continuously bleeds from them.
I will never let them heal,
As a constant reminder of myself.

I keep bandages to cover the wounds you have inflicted,
Always hoping to keep your carnivorous venom from spreading.
Bandages woven from lies and elaborations,
I am just as sick as you are, living in a false cloud.

I am throughout your entire being,
I have occupied your mind.
I want to keep you at the edge of your demise,
And pull you back when you get too close
So your life can remain – my favorite obsession.
I am what you breathe,
I stop your beating heart.

I have tried to find a cure,
Ointments and creams for the wounds
And chemicals to battle you.
All the time trying to hide this sickness.

I have given you a name,
You are a cancer.
The wounds you inflict never heal,
Never turn to the scars of memories
To be put far behind me.

I don’t plan on leaving.
No matter how much you fight,
You can’t resister forever.
And I will always be here, waiting…
Until you finally acquiesce.
Then I will show you just how wonderful life with me can be.
As always – your life is my favorite obsession.

Why won’t you leave me alone?
Why can’t you let me live my life?
I will declare my freedom,
Drive you from my physical being and clean my soul of your grief.
No more pills and needles, no more pain.
You won’t see my power coming,
And you won’t know when
But I will force you to leave.
Vile cancer, go away!

I don’t want to leave you,
I love you
And – your life is my favorite obsession.
