Letting Go

Contributed by skadmatrix on Friday, 15th April 2005 @ 03:07:00 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

Trying to hold on to something that isn’t mine
Destroying any negative fact that I find
I’m just sitting here losing my mind
There was nothing real there to find

I didn’t know that your love was so real
I thought I could get it, even if I had to steal
But trying to grab on to nothing that was there
Just thinking of it made me want to rip out my hair

Trying to make this fairy tale of mine come true
Wanting you to give in to something I wanted you to do
It wasn’t my territory to pass
In this enemy mine field I couldn’t last

Finally I stepped on one and it blew me back
Saying what I thought was something I knew
Trying to destroy this love you have grew
It launched back on me like a ton of darts
But it didn’t touch my heart

I have turned away from that door I couldn’t enter
Leaving you with him, since he could enter
I’m sorry for what I’ve tried even though it all failed
But I’m not blaming you at all for myself I impaled

Warnings all around that I ignored
Knowing that you didn’t want me I have mourned
But for he has earned his place in your heart
Now I can’t stop myself for I must part

I’m letting you go
