I Still Believe

Scattered words of a past gone by,
An unanswered question of our hearts,
Lingers in my mind,
And I can't help but ask why.
Why did it happen this way, was it me?
I may never know,
You were the first I loved,
All I know is I still believe.
If you ever read this,
Does this mean you still love?
You may never know it,
But I wonder about us, too.
I think of how you are,
And what has happened to you.
I still believe in your love, your heart,
I think you found yours before I found mine.
To this day, you're the only one I've loved.
It's so hard to love again, nothing has fixed it,
Not even time.
I still believe,
I do.
I never stopped.
Do you think I'm a fool?

I really enjoyed this one. So close to the bone. Y'know, its the questions that keep the wounds open. Somehow you have to get over asking the questions that will never be answered.
