The Painful Truth

Contributed by Pats4eva7 on Wednesday, 13th April 2005 @ 04:57:04 PM in AEST
Topic: FamilyPoems

For years I've concealed this pain,
A hurt only a father could do.
In my heart you left some scars,
From what you put me through.

I know you don't wanna hear this,
But I think you need to know.
You left me for so long,
I wished you didn't go.

Everynight I dreamed of your return,
But woke without you there.
All those years alone,
It's like you didn't care.

I learned to live my life,
I created a world without you.
But then you came back,
And I don't know what to do.

Don't get my wrong,
I'm glad you came home.
I just dont know how to act,
After so many years alone.

I never breathed a word,
And never told a soul.
How when you left you tore me down,
For I was no longer whole.

My life had unraveled,
And fell apart at the seams.
It seemed you only visited me,
In my blissful dreams.

Just because you left mom,
Didn't mean you had to leave me too.
You didn't have to go so far,
I won't ever understand you.

I know you didn't mean to hurt me,
Or cause me all those tears.
Maybe you were sad too,
All throughout those years.

Having you leave,
Has become my biggest fear.
I don't know what I'd do,
If I didn't have you here.

Though you caused me pain,
There's no one quite like you.
Eachday I love you more,
Even for what you put me through.

You may feel grief for what happened,
But there's no need to be.
I forgive you for it all,
Just promise you won't ever leave me.

Towards you I could never feel hate,
No matter what you put me through.
I love you and your mistakes,
For everything you do.

Daddy I love you,
And daddy I care.
Because in my heart,
You were always there.

I'll always be your baby girl,
I won't grow up just for you.
Now you know the truth,
And I love you for everything you do.
