''my real nightmare''

Contributed by english-pea-pelter on Tuesday, 12th April 2005 @ 10:39:41 PM in AEST
Topic: Grief

I’ve spread my wings
I’m ready to fly
But what’s this?
It’s cloudy outside
What are you doing?
Give back my wings!
Oh no, my times up
Hark, look there!
The pendulum swings
I watch you fly off
I want to kick, to cry, and to scream
That was my last chance
Are you disturbed?
Then something stirs
And I wake from this dream
I wake, covered in cold sweat
My hands all clammy
How worse can this get?
Then I remember
My dream came true
I can’t believe we’ve lived this long without you
You left years ago
You left me alone
But I have new friends
They gave me a home
My pain is now almost gone
We triumph happily, with our victory song
Chanting
Singing
Praying
Hoping
I'll remember you
And never forget
But with friends,
This is as good as it gets

This was a nice poem. It hurts so much to lose those we love. Life does go on and if we allow it; we can love again, make new friends that can be as close as a brother. I wish you the best.

This was a wonderful poem. Sad but great. I know how it feels and others do too. So you're not alone. It's great you had friends there to back you up and take you in.
