Shiny Suit of Armor

Contributed by jyssvw22 on Tuesday, 12th April 2005 @ 03:23:11 PM in AEST
Topic: ambiguous

Hanging pictures on their frame
Main Street deserted for the parade
They dance and sing in your honor
They pay homage to your courageous valor
You are officially a hero of epic proportions
You and your little shiny suit of armor, take caution

Sword drawn and mask fastened tight
Take your stage, “warrior of the night”
It’s your words they wait to hear
It’s your poetry that can induce their last tear
For I have been here, waiting for your return
I thought it better then simply coming along

Children gather, they chant your name
They dress like you
It’s such a crying damn shame!
If they only knew you
The way I once used to do
If they only loved you
If they only gave a damn too!

Bestowed upon you, is an honor such
Kings and Gods awake, just to wish you luck!
Have I sinned to such an extent,
That all I have accomplished becomes irrelevant?
Has the road I traveled become nonexistent?
Was my toil and hardship worth even some small percent?

But I digress, this here is your special day
You’re larger than the sun, in your own perverted way
Compounding conclusions, and drastic disillusions
Have enabled a condemned slave of misery
Rise to the lauded and worshiped epitome-
Greatness and prominence have apparently escaped thee
You and I simply, can never be

I don't think this is as ambiuous as it seems. Though I can't guess who you are talking about it has to be someone on the site or someone close to you. Your poem is atleast that clear. I think it is very good.

LOVE this! It seems as though you're talking about yourself in the third person...Although that last line could be a reference to a certain dissolved relationship...and I think in part it is...but I also think in part it's to do with your 'old' self, and (at the time, I suspect) the 'new' shadow of your former self. Excellent emotive piece, and the fourth stanza is awesome!
