Childish Innocence

Contributed by StoneAngel on Tuesday, 12th April 2005 @ 10:29:05 AM in AEST
Topic: ChildrensPoetry

Swinging on a tire
Or playing hopscotch
is a lot like life

Many of us skip through life
or shuffle through it
it depends on your personality
and the way you look at life

You can learn a lot from children
they mimic us
But maybe we should mimic them
their life's so simple
No problems too hard
they make problems look easy
that would seem hard to us

They don't have the same cares as us
But they do have their own problems
The only differences is they don't over analyze
They just take things as they come
We can learn a lot from children

The most complicated situation
the most complicated science
can be sum up
In childish words

These children of ours
can teach us a lot
about humility and forgiveness
they are smarter then you think
so stop and listen you never know
you might learn a lot

So listen to there stories
and there sornful crys
But be sure to protect
there childish innocence
Because in the end
we are all children

I was thrust from my childhood and thrown into this horrible, almost adulthood. I hate the fact that we have to grow up and face problems, death, & life in this real world. I'd like to go back to being that child that had all her illusions in place. I did enjoy your poem, I'm sorry if it sounded otherwise. It's really good. Shey

As an adult where the inexhorable march of time has forced me there, I couldn't agree more. Trying to maintain my sense of childlike (as opposed to childish), one of the largest problems facing this planet we live on is the fact that those who run the place (i.e. earth) refuse to see things with childlike eyes. The world's political and economic leaders need to chill and sit down together over a nice ice cream sundae.

very good write Laina and so true... one question is "sornful" a word? that should be "mournful"
