The Rule of Denial

Grief
|
They lived a life of luxury, but to rule was work
and they managed to eat it still blackened and burnt.
In the lawful existence depression reigned,
the queen of denial
was more beauty than brains.
She raved with insanity
and locked herself away in lunacy,
She could barely have stopped it all
but surely she caused their fall.
For then the kindly king
stood with dagger in hand
and offered to remove the heart of man.
(But then all would die on hallowed land)
And oh,
she pulled that blade from his back
and you won’t believe this simple fact.
She cut herself when the blade went deep,
trying to hold what she wouldn’t keep.
And so,
blood drained to the cellar floor,
and quenched the earth,
and nothing more.
(Except them, in the world before)
At the window they saw a raven’s eyes
who tried to say he had sympathized.
And still,
beneath a raven’s wings,
a pendulum swings,
to and fro through those shattered dreams.

A lovely piece of writing, creative yet there's a hint of wisdom in it.
You truely did a wonderful poem, it seems that talents do run in you're family.

Denial is a funny thing. Most often used to keep us from feeling pain and yet tends to just stave it off so eventually we feel it anyway.
Maybe that's so we might be better able to deal with it later?? I'm not so sure about that.
Anyway this is a wonderfully cryptic piece and something tells me the queen has more brains than she thinks she has. She is after all, I beleive, only human too. |
