PEOPLE ALL AROUND ME

People all around me
All seem so free
They stroll and gaze
They sing softly as they sway
Hand in loving Hand
Others walk alone
A joke, a laugh nearby
The baby is hungry, he begins to cry
The traffic swelters
As the heat is jammed
A summer in November
Building castles in the sand
A man walks past
Brisk and alarmingly fast
He shoves me, accidentally
Turns around, and extends an apology
Today could be the day
The day the foreboding dies away
The moment in time
That I have yearned to find
Clarity and consciousness
Have thus far eluded my meekness
Instinctual and submissive
I am rendered useless
The people have stopped crawling
They begin to crowd and stare
The moment is upon them
They fear its powerful glare
Immobilized and frozen
I can only be forgotten
My fear alone
Remains my only weapon
There it sits, now
Nothing between us
I reach out to it
Just as it turns me to dust

That's a good poem. I have felt that way many times before, that i've been ignored. I don't like being alone, but I don't like to be the center of attention either. I love that poem :) Jenny |
