He Passed This Way

Contributed by reflections on Monday, 11th April 2005 @ 05:09:51 PM in AEST
Topic: goodbyepoetry

He passed this way…
and stayed awhile.
He did that for which he came.
When he was done
he journeyed on…
he’ll not return again.
But , we shall all remember
how it was when he was here.
His playfulness…his impish smile,
that stretched from ear to ear.
He lacked a formal education
but, was the smartest man I’ve known.
A simple man…he tilled the land
and reaped what he had sown.
In fertile ground he planted seed,
determined it should grow.
Then, hoe in hand, he fought the weed
(his nemesis and foe).
He tended faithfully his crop
protecting every seed.
Providing every nourishment…
providing every need.
When at last the crop was ready,
for the harvest of his land,
he was called to rest eternally
in God’s protective hand.
The world’s a little dimmer now.
The sun shines not as bright.
The stars have lost their twinkle
as they wander through the night.
The whip-poor-will sings softly
its lonesome, sad refrain;
reminding us that daddy…
will not pass this way again.

What a heart-wrenching tribute to a wonderful Daddy.
Oh this great daddy is watching over you John all the time.
When a man passes it is said, a library goes down and burns up, not that the man has neccessarily much book wisdom, but by the very greatness of his being.
Irreplaceable!
Irreplaceable here, in our realm, but infinitely efficacious elsewhere and overseeing this small earth ball from an immensely superior vista

I have tears in my eyes. How much you loved your wonderful daddy.
Be he be your guardian angel ,accompanyiong you wherever you go and fill your heart with comfort and strength.

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam
Elizabeth
