The sublime and rich ruby-red colour,
Its taste so smooth unlike any other.
the scent of its roasted malt tantalises my senses,
my thoughts of its texture, weakened my defences,
When the cream settles on top of its shoulders,
Watching the perfection in the eyes of the beholders.
The surge of white power flowing to its crown,
Waiting for the final settle so I can drink it down.
Condensation forms on the outside of its glass frame,
Waiting for the surge to settle is a tempting game,
The perfection of its beauty, from first stage to the last,
The angle, pouring, wait, and the top-up has passed.
I take the well known stout in my warm hand,
I look at the barman and say “sure that’s grand”.
The taste of the Irish, the magic is all in us,
When we sit, wait and enjoy our enticing Guinness.
