My Latest Toy

Contributed by rcav8ing on Sunday, 10th April 2005 @ 11:27:57 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

Today in the mail, I received an egg
A box that is full of sticks
Along with the sticks it came with a form
the book to show me the tricks

A decision made, I read through the code
To make sure my choice was right
When everything’s done and all is complete
I‘ll have a beautiful flight

I’ll measure and cut all the shards of wood
Until the miter is right
With a little glue, some patience and time
Together the joints are tight

Sticks go together, more and more in time
An embryo taking form
With a leading edge, and trailing edge too
Wings that are now looking norm

The fuselage is next, to hold wings and tail
for so boldly she will fly
with diligent work, my skills razor sharp
one day she’ll take to the sky.

It’s perfectly straight, an arrow would blush
I did a wonderful job
Its time for feathers, and a motor too
For a crash will make me sob

With feathers installed and motor in place
My bird some balance is needed
The radio gear and battery next
The ballast that is heeded

She’s balanced just right and ready to fly
Her coat is yellow and black
On her maiden day I’ll take to the field
I sure hope that she comes back

Her motor is running, I’ve tuned her just right
I think she’s ready to go
The runway is long, I release my hold
No hurry just take it slow

She’s stable and strong as a train on rails
I’m ready to make her rise
She comes off the ground as straight as can be
I didn’t have a surprise

She’s now in the air, I’m nervous as hell
My body out of control
My thumbs are a quiver, yet she won’t shiver
She’s just up on patrol

Her tank’s about dry, I’m getting tired
What a day it’s been so far
It’s time for landing, it’s not over yet
I want her back in the car

She comes to the ground; she’s all in one piece
My nerves are settling down
For all of my love and all of my time
She’s the best damn plane in town.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
